SERVES 4 PEOPLE!

******INGREDIENTS*********
For making Dal :
* 1.4 cup Arhar (tuvar) dal
* 1/4 cup yellow mung dal
* pinch of turmeric
* 1/2 tsp salt
* 1 tsp ghee
* water as required
* 3 tbsp oil
* 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
* 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
* 1/4 tsp asafoetida
* 1 star anise
* 3 cloves
* 1 bay leaf
* 2 dried red chilli
* 1 small stick of cinnamon
* 8-10 curry leaves
* 1 inch ginger grated
* 1 chopped green chilli
* 1 chopped tomato
* 1 tbsp jaggery
* 2 – 3 soaked kokam
* 1/4 cup soaked peanuts
* 1/2 tsp aachar masala
* 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
* coriander leaves

For making dhokli :
* 1/2 cup wheat flour
* 1/2 cup gram flour
* salt as per taste
* 1/2 tsp carom seeds
* 1 green chilli
* 2 tsp coriander leaves
* 1/4 tsp turmeric
* 1/4 tsp asafoetida
* 1/2 tsp cumin coriander powder
* 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
* 2 tsp oil
* water as required

  1. I dry roast the રોટલી to fully cooked state before cutting it into small pieces and adding to the દાળ. I take my regular dal, which is much thicker than what other people make. Double the volume with water and add the roasted pieces of રોટલી. Does not take long to be fully ready WITHOUT the pieces sticking together.
