"Prodigal" basically means "wasteful". It refers to a person or lifestyle marked by wasting time and money on pointless, frivolous things.
According to the Gospel of Luke, Jesus told a story about man whose son gathered up all his wealth and squandered it far away in wild living. When the son came home penniless and heartbroken, his father welcomed him, joyful and grateful to have him back safely. This story is often called the Parable of the Prodigal Son (although the phrase itself isn't anywhere in the Bible). Here, I think it's being used to describe Tony as someone who left his father's home and company as a young man, and returned after spending years away.
