  1. I don’t know what you mean lost . We still cook these dishes maybe not as much as we use to. But Sunday dinner and Thanksgiving are still traditional for the majority of Black families.. of course now many things are expensive regardless . Hispanics also cooked the same they took bad meat , vegetables what was given them and made great dishes.

  3. All scraps cost a fortune. I learned most of dishes as a child. My paternal and maternal families came from Georgia and cooked similarly. The Indian side had their traditions-okra, corn or maize. They all liked their soups. I use some of recipes and depends on who comes to dinner which I use. Collards are first choice in greens, but mustard, turnips, cabbage and kale and mixture of all reigned in our house.
