Looking for award-winning desserts that are actually easy to make? In this video, Nicole shares four prize-worthy treats that start with simple shortcuts (like boxed mix and ready-made dough) but deliver big on flavor—and blue ribbons. These recipes have wowed county fair judges and state fair crowds, and now they’re ready for your kitchen.
She kicks things off with a Peaches & Cream Pie that magically forms its own crust using vanilla pudding mix, followed by a super-rich Too Much Chocolate Cake that’s taken home first prize. Next up: a classic All-Butter Pound Cake that’s a Kentucky blue ribbon winner, and finally, a Salted Two-Way Brownie made with boxed brownie mix, chocolate chip cookie dough, and a caramel drizzle that won over judges at the North Carolina State Fair.
Whether you’re baking for a crowd or just want something sweet and simple, these fair-tested desserts are guaranteed to impress.

I have been using this pound cake recipe since I was in my teens. I am 58 now. This is the recipe my momma always used, also. My kids love it too..
I skip any recipe with "instant" @#%🙁! pudding.
'Not meant to be healthy, Deborah'…LOLOLOL When you shake and tap the pan to settle the batter Chef John calls that giving it a little tap-a-tap-a.
Using a scale to measure baking ingredients is a game changer. No need for spooning flour into a measuring cup. Actually no need for a measuring cup at all! And you get consistent results every time. Thank you King Arthur Flour baking school for the lesson that changed the way I bake.
For some reason, i always thought that whatever you entered in a fair contest should be homemade, not a mix?🤔😲🤷🏼♀️😆
They all look yummy!
The too much chocolate cake is extremely close to the recipe I make for my son every year for his birthday. I use milk instead of water and we top it off with pecan icing and coconut. That's even the same bundt pan.
LOL, my name is Debra
Im old enough to remember that all entries had to be made from scratch….no mixes allowed🥲
Pound cakes are traditionally placed in cold oven to allow a slow heat up. This prevents cracking of the top and overcooking of the sides.
