  1. No ad-supported models, percentage-based revenue, or creating entirely new categories…. in otherwords don't do a startup. This is essentially all your options except for direct sale to the public or direct to businesses of tried and true products. This isn't a startup, it's a normal business. Don't develop anything, just sell off the shelf items or common services and compete in crowded market spaces.

  2. Just closed down a two-sided marketplace business that took a percentage of GMV. It was growing at a healthy rate, but it was gonna take forever to become profitable. In the meantime, I was feeding the alligator.
