Here’s a simple Makhan Mishri recipe for Janmashtami – the classic bhog offered to Bal Gopal:

Ingredients

Fresh homemade white butter (makhan) – ½ cup

Mishri (rock sugar) – 2–3 tbsp (crushed lightly or whole crystals)

Tulsi leaves – 3 to 5 (washed, whole)

Method

1. Prepare butter – If making at home, churn fresh cream or malai to get soft white butter.

2. Mix mishri – Add mishri to the butter and blend gently (do not melt it).

3. Add devotion – Place tulsi leaves on top.

4. Offer to Lord Krishna during Janmashtami pooja as bhog, then distribute as prasad.

💡 Tips:

Use freshly churned butter for authenticity, just like Yashoda Maa made for Krishna.

Keep mishri crystals slightly crunchy for texture.

Serve in a small silver, brass, or clay bowl for a traditional touch.
