Reacher is an American crime drama television series created by Nick Santora for Prime Video. It is based on the Jack Reacher book series by Lee Child, and stars Alan Ritchson as Jack Reacher, a former military police officer who fights dangerous criminals on his journey. The first season, based on the novel The Killing Field, premiered on February 4, 2022. The second season, based on the novel The Trouble with the Troubles, premiered on December 15, 2023, and concluded in January 2024. The third season, based on the novel The Persuasive, premiered on February 20, 2025. In October 2024, before the third season aired, the series was renewed for a fourth season. A spin-off series, The Nightingale, is currently in production. Jack Reacher is a former United States Army Military Police major with extensive investigative and combat experience who now lives as a drifter, traveling from town to town across the United States. Jack Reacher, a former United States Army Military Police officer, visits the fictional rural town of Margrove, Georgia, and is arrested for murder. Upon his release, he teams up with Oscar Finley and Roscoe Conklin to investigate a vast conspiracy involving corrupt police officers, politicians, and businessmen. In the second season, Reacher is contacted by a former member of the Parliament Unit from New York City, one of whom is murdered under mysterious circumstances. He reunites his old team to find the killers and avenge their friend. Principal photography for season 1 took place between April 15 and July 30, 2021, in Toronto. To adapt the books to the show, the writers decided to make Reacher more verbal, but kept his dialogue short and direct, and only asked him to talk to people he respected. They also decided to introduce Nighy earlier than in the books. On December 2, 2023, before the second season aired, Amazon Prime Video renewed the series for a third season. On review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, the series has an approval rating of 90%, based on 63 reviews, with an average rating of 7.3 out of 10. On Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, it has a score of 68 out of 100, based on 18 reviews.
