In 1949, after decades of revolution, invasion and civil war, Mao Zedong finally takes control of China.
Chairman Mao proclaims it a ‘People’s Republic’, but democracy is not on the agenda. Instead, he wields absolute power in an authoritarian government determined to rebuild China in line with his communist ideals.
In the years that follow, his regime will oversee the expansion of China’s influence and its transformation into a major player on the international stage. But in his attempts to revolutionise Chinese society, Mao will also unleash catastrophic violence and sow the seeds of humanitarian disaster.

As a Chinese, I think Westerners still look at history at the level of looking at stories, there is a saying in China that all history is contemporary history, but people don't know that Chinese history has gone through dozens of almost identical reincarnations in thousands of years, such as the video about hundreds of thousands of landlords being liquidated, land confiscated and distributed to hundreds of millions of landless farmers, may seem like a horror story to you, but I don't know how to explain to you In our opinion, this is normal, This has happened countless times in China's long history, and after about two hundred years back to the starting point of the story, the Chinese began to try to find a way to escape from this historical cycle, Mao Zedong's study of Chinese history is very deep, if anyone imagines to shape him as a tyrant greedy for power, this is very naïve, if you want to know more about him, you must know Chinese civilization very well, you must have a certain understanding of China's history from ancient times to the present before you can understand what he wants to do, Finally, I recommend a poem by Chairman Mao to everyone, hoping that you can read some of his views on history
Reading History
Man, to the ape, waved goodbye.
Having stone tools to fight the odds,
Which was his infancy road.
Bronze and iron tempered at flames;
When did he learn this art, do you know?
But a few thousand years ago.
On earth broad smiles are rarely seen;
On field bows drawn phased like moon.
All plains are red,
With blood that’s shed.
One volume read, and you’ll be old.
Recalling but some regal feuds,
Old traces taken from older quotes.
The legends of saint kings retold,
Have fooled countless human sloths.
How many are hailed in odes?
Let Spartacus win his fame,
Shall peasants aroused to wield their forks.
Songs unsung,
A brand new dawn.
This channel is simply fantastic!
first time i see him face to face
The most straightforward reason for the vast difference between China and India is that China produced Mao Zedong. Admittedly, he made mistakes, but overthrowing the comprador class, carrying out the land revolution, breaking down clan society, implementing universal education and healthcare, defeating the United States, and industrializing China—any one of these achievements would qualify him as a great man, especially considering how impoverished China was at the time.
An old saying is "In times of chaos, severe punishments are necessary.".
Another one is "A gentleman judges by actions and consequences , not by intentions.".
It was a tough time in China, recovering from invasion, civil war and Korean war.
I don't want to comment Mao, and I have no qualifications. As a well protected Chinese, all I know is that without him, China would be the second India or another US military base after Japan and South Korea.
BTW, feel good to see English speakers gradually accept Mao Zedong instead of Zedong Mao in recent years (finally).
One funny thing about Chiang Kai-shek is that his legacy has diminished over time in Taiwan while it has strangely improved in mainland China. He's regarded as the worst or next worst Taiwanese head of state in its history.
Amazing 😊
