I just discovered your channel and i'm so glad I clicked on your video. I have a lot of things i'm curious to learn about. But what strikes me most is physics and maths. I'm so jealous of people who have a solid understanding of the foundations and just build on it and apply it in their fields and their lives. it's coupled with several other things but this has been a phenomenal guide. I've been stuck at the planning stage for a while but I have so much clarity and comfort in knowing that i'm on the right path. I'm subscribing. I look forward to more insightful tips from you! Thank you!
I want to learn multiple things, the majority related to computer science (my major), some of then are backend development, data analytics, and quantum computing and mechanics, so now I want to really organize my learning.
A very important thing I've found out about learning is how different learning is when you factor in memory or not.
When you're doing something like following an instruction manual, you mimic/parrot the guide to follow the steps. You "learned" what to do for that moment, but you didn't "remember" it because you didn't need to.
And for something like a new language.. when you're practicing, you're most likely not trying to directly translate in that moment, but instead you're preparing for the future so you can automatically. You're not trying to "learn" the language, you're strengthening your "memory" over time through consistent exposure.
Intent and your current goal-based reasons are dictative to how you remember something. You're always "learning," but the goal for most people isn't to learn.. it's to remember.
It's actually quite important, or albeit vital, to understand this because this helps people properly gauge how they should expect to feel progress before, during, and after studying. The reward states are different between quick things like following manuals, and long-term things like learning skills.
