The convention to name a round ‘Seed’ vs ‘Series A’, or ‘Series B’ vs Series C’ responds mostly to the company stage, and a little bit to the size of the round. A lot of the confusion comes from the fact that rounds can vary in size a lot: you can find Seed Rounds at $250K and at $2M, and they are both true ‘Seed Rounds’ (or at least that’s how they are reported in Crunchbase).

So let’s get to it.

  1. Is all this in a book? You guys really need a book or a series of books/handbooks that can be read in order. I prefer books for this stuff because I can highlight stuff and reference bookmarked pages! You guys should pair up with Daniel Priestly and co-write this or get his name on it for marketing purposes.

  2. Awesome video — thank you for breaking down how Seed and Series A rounds really differ in expectations, strategy, and execution. It’s eye‑opening for every founder navigating fundraising. What’s one key sign you believe indicates a startup is truly ready to move from Seed to Series A?
