White Biryani of Jodia Bazar | Dirty Roads, Delicious Food

I explored Jodia Bazar Karachi, one of Pakistan’s oldest and busiest wholesale markets — a place where billions of rupees worth of business is done every single day. But what I saw left me both amazed and upset.
Despite being such a major commercial hub, the roads were broken, trash was piled up, and traffic jams made it nearly impossible to move around. It felt like Karachi is still living in 1947! frozen in time.

In the middle of all this chaos, I searched for the best food in Jodia Bazar, and locals told me to try the legendary Gulab’s White Biryani — and no doubt, it truly lived up to the hype! The unique taste, aroma, and perfectly balanced spices made it one of the most delicious biryanis I’ve had in Karachi.

Right across from Gulab Biryani, I found a small dhaba-style eatery serving multiple dishes, but their Malbary-style daal was the highlight, simple, flavorful, and authentic desi comfort food.

Join me as I uncover the real face of Jodia Bazar, its food, people, and stories — from chaos to charm, and from broken roads to unforgettable flavors.
