I can't believe it. The casting directors might have been blind initially. Glad they opened their eyes wider to approach Meryl and Stanley
I know Meryl Streep now for The Laundromat than for Silkwood, Death Becomes Her, Julie & Julia and of course, The Devil Wears Prada.
I think it would’ve been cool to have Angelina Jolie do it. But most of those other actresses wouldn’t have worked. Some of them were even younger than Andy. (Anne Hathaway)
So pick all the actresses not as good as Meryl Streep and end up on Meryl Streep
Meryl shines her absolute BEST in this role
I can see Glenn Close in the roll. Maybe Hilary Swank. Not Julia Roberts, although she’s an amazing actress. And certainly not any of the others. Graham Norton replacing Stanley Tusci would have made it a completely different film.
And Meryl had to negotiate for adequate pay too. They low balled her pay wise initially
I could have sworn this role was built for Meryl!! She is such an incredible actress. 🥹
Helen Mirren is probably the ONLY one who would've worked as "A Legend" type because no one else in that line-up really Looks old enough to pull that off
