“The Nightingale and the Owl” is a profound allegory revealed by Bahá’u’lláh, contrasting the pure song of truth with the imitations of falsehood. Through the imagery of a rose, nightingales, crows, and an owl, the tablet warns against blind imitation, prejudice, and judging truth by second-hand reports or appearances. Bahá’u’lláh calls the sincere to recognize the true Beloved by His own voice and qualities, not by hearsay or location, and to guard the Cause of God with humility, purity, and service. It is a timeless reminder to distinguish the melody of divine guidance from the noise of error.
