A spicy, creamy and smoky chicken recipe just perfect for the current thanda thanda weather 🫠 – A dish from Punjab 😌 – Murgh Patiala ♥️
Ingredients:
-750 gm curry cut chicken
-For marination: Salt, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp red chilli powder , 2 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder , 1.5 tbsp coriander powder, 1 tbsp finger garlic paste , 3 tbsp curd , 1 tbsp mustard oil and chopped coriander
-3 + 1 tbsp oil/ghee for cooking
-Whole Spices: 3 cloves, 1 green cardamom, 1 black cardamom, 5-6 black peppercorns, 1/2 inch cinnamon
-3 medium onions – chopped
-2 medium tomatoes – chopped
-1/2inch ginger, 6-7 garlic cloves and 2 green chillis – Chopped
-1 Onion – Big diced
-1 capsicum- Big Diced
-Paste of 7-8 cashews
-1 cup hot water
-1/2 tsp black pepper powder
-1/2 tsp garam masala
-1/2 tbsp kasuri methi
-Charcoal for smoking , optional
Preparation:
-Marinate for rest the chicken for 20-30 min before cooking
Cooking:
-Heat 3 tbsp oil and temper with whole spices
-Add chopped onions and cook for 5-6 minutes till it turns golden
-Add tomatoes. Cover to cook for 5-6 min till it softens
-Add the marinated chicken
-Cook on high heat for 5 min
-Over a low flame cover and cook for 20 min
-Set the chicken aside
-Heat 1 tbsp oil
-Add chopper ginger garlic and green chillis
-Cook for 2 min
-Add Diced onions and capsicum
-Saute on high heat for 1 min
-Add the chicken witb cashew paste, black pepper , Garam masala and kasuri methi
-Mix it well and adjust the salt
-Add water and give smoke
-Simmer for 5 min
-Serve hot and garnish with cream, ginger julienned and chopped coriander
