  1. To understand the true geography of Morocco, one must not rely on the borders imposed during the colonial era. Historically, Morocco extended from Tangier in the north to the Senegal River in the south and encompassed the eastern Sahara – from Béchar through Adrar and Tindouf to Sijilmassa. Anything less is merely a divided Morocco shaped by colonial partitions.

Therefore, to grasp the full scope of Morocco, one must look at maps prior to 1881. Only then does the true expanse become clear: from Tangier, across the Sahara, to Sijilmassa and down to the Senegal River – a continuous space reflecting the authentic historical identity of Morocco.

What is known today as Algeria, along with Mauritania, Mali, and the lands stretching to the Senegal River – including the Western Sahara – were all historically part of the greater Moroccan sphere.

  2. This map don’t show how close Morocco is to Southeastern North Carolina in the USA on the North American continent…only 3,900 miles some say the point is exactly 3,600 miles…that’s about how far California is from NC which is in the western part of the US…I find this funny how close they are.
