How horrible it must have been to get back to the fighting after Christmas. Knowing, you're not firing at the faceless monster they probably made the enemy out to be,, but at some actually nice dudes you shared a wine and festive spirit with.
I think this just shows that most soldiers were just grunts. Just doing a job.
That is surprisingly wholesome
The Germans and the French played a game of soccer too.
One of the Germans smashed his rifle on the ground, and the higher ups on both sides realized that if their troops began to see their foes as fellow humans, they may lose the will to fight.
Yooooooooooooooooooooooo that's crazy
French wasn't that kind for germans cuz they fight on thier soil but some units were celebrate with germans. British were biggest part of this event they even play football exchange gifts. And the CANADIANS WERE THE ********** (inappropriate use of words)
Unfortunately, you cant say the same for the war between Canada and Germany during world war I
Don't do it in Russia tho
Just goes to show that not everybody’s evil the people leading can be evil
Tragic that it can be near guaranteed that by the next Christmas those men were either dead or traumatized
