Some people think that the best way for us to discover the truth is by instating a broad policy of free speech. But what if it’s more nuanced than that? In this mini-explainer, Robert Simpson argues that a blanket policy of free speech might in fact undermine truth, because it allows bad actors to use the “dilution method” and buy up airtime in the marketplace of ideas.
