  1. I think that your comparison is a bit too direct. I love how you are looking into the facts and I agree that life today isn’t what it used to be. But I disagree that we aren’t in a gilded age. I strongly think that we are in a modern version of the gilded age. As we are a second world country and we are reaping benefits from. I will admit, I haven’t finished the video so I’m not sure what your conclusion is just yet, but these are my thoughts based on what you have said up to this timestamp: 12:01

  2. I think the current time resembles the rise of Christianity and decline of Rome as well. Remember how average men and slaves were pushed to the edge, which made Christianity popular in Rome, which in turn fueled the anti-intellectual movements? How military and financial elites used religion to mobilize poor against cultural and intellectual elites and against the middle class?

  3. Folks didn’t have have to pay all the taxes we pay today back then or all the insurances, car payments / maintenance or all the utilities we now need.

So sure we might be earning 5x on paper our dollar does not go as far as it did in previous decades.

  4. I think it is super important when discussing the city of Moscow that you look at the entire country of Russia all of the wealth is pushed into Moscow in Saint Petersburg. They’re the places with the roads most of Russia does not even have a highway system and there’s mass poverty outside of those two cities so yes, an oligarchy would make sure it’s a big city is lavish and pretty and beautiful go outside of that city. You will see what Russia is like. that is not to say America has fantastic cities. I think there is plenty for us to work on, but Moscow is sort of a utopian oligarchy made city.

  5. an especially bad part of AI having centers in populated areas, is the noise and heat pollution, they need as much power as they can to keep their AI running, the machinery required for it not only causes brown to blackouts, but also the humming of electronics is so intense that an entire town is held hostage by an AI center and at times the noise can be painful to them
