It's awesome knowing back in 18 century when everyone have their own roles in society or their community. Everyone have their own part to play and their own way to contribute, nowadays a lot of people doesn't even know why they doing this or that.. it's like losing purposes. Nowadays a lot of "useless class" dominated society. Industrial revolutions really broke ourselves and society.
There's still people today who work very primitive blacksmithing where they still use rocks as anvils and some experimental archeology shows it takes a lot of time and resources like count years before black smiths have all they need to maintain their work.
People did multiple skills.overlaping,cross-over n piece-meal.there was a handle maker.a corn broomstraw handler.a wire drawer.nail maker,etc…just to make a broom.

You knew your village was established when you had a blacksmith and a baker
Under a spreading chestnut tree, the village smithy stands; the smith, a mighty man is he, with large and sinewy hands..
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
This video suddenly took me back to 8th grade in the early 80’s when I had to memorize that poem
The beer brewery made bread but also providers yeast for bread to the housewives ,next blacksmith
actually the anchor would be cast at a foundry.

Who was it that said "We stand on the shoulders of Giants" ? Perhaps Carl Sagan?
