  1. So funny watching the reaction of these millennials. You guys live in a really soft world. Yes, that's the way it was during the Vietnam era, up to the 80's. You guys have no idea. Go back to your safe spaces. Unreal.

  2. Couple of things, NO….. It’s not like this, ITS WORSE!! And supposed to be scared, why because this was as real as Hollywood would allow!, Now next question YES, this guy was a drill instructor in the Marine Corps. You have to remember these men would go directly to Vietnam, if you can’t take drill, instructor cursing, or breaking you down to your very soul, how would you act on the battlefield? Simper Fi!

  3. My name is M.A. Lauer, I spent the entire summer of 1976, from the 30th of June until the 6th of October in training with Platoon 1074, Company B, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, 1st Recruit Training Regiment, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California.
My Drill Instructors were Senior DI Staff Sergeant William Bossaert. Drill Instructor Sergeant Edward Marr. Drill Instructor Sergeant David Henricks. And in third phase Drill Instructor Staff Sergeant Brockett.
I can attest and offer testimony to the fact that what you see in "Full Metal Jacket" (Boot Camp Scenes) is as accurate as can possibly be presented.
I can also say, to all of these tender little snowflakes, that I would go through it all again, to gain the training needed, and the mental strength required to destroy any enemy of my country.
My time in Marine Boot Camp was, in many ways, the best experience I ever went through in my life.
It took an 18 year old high school graduate who had no fucking idea who he was, and what he wanted to do with his life, and set him on a solid adult path.
I came home to parents who wondered where their KID had gone, and how his YOUNG MAN had suddenly appeared.
