  1. Sargent: "Corporal Jennings, the regiment finds you guilty as charged of looting. The punishment you shall face is twelve whipped lashes inflicted by the cat of nine tails.

Corporal: "Please Sargent Harding, does it sting?"

Sargent: "STING BOY? ITS NO BLASTED BEE! NOW MAKE THAT FIFTEEN LASHES"

  2. In a revolution property ownership changes hands. The War for Independence was not a revolution. The campaign secured the uncivil priority of property law over common law. Common law had abolished slavery in the UK in 1772, disrupting the slave trade central to American wealth. In America common law can be protected only by constitutional amendment, and otherwise property and contract law obtains. Conservatives invert the significance of these facts.

  3. If you have an email, I can send you pics from NC, between Raleigh and Fayetteville, of temps of 43C(109.5F) and higher from this past summer, even melted my truck's factory decal. Humidity was around 90%, one of the days that it was that hot, they were also calling for rain. If you want the photos, let me know.
