Unconventional grenade tactics have appeared for over a thousand years, from early Byzantine soldiers using clay jars of Greek Fire, to Red Army adding fish hooks in the Battle of Stalingrad, and hidden trap shafts built into the Atlantic Wall bunkers. History shows that grenades evolved through constant adaptation, including the WWI Mills Bomb and even improvised devices like taped spoons and shock booby traps used by Soviet troops and Canadian expeditionary forces.
