Looking forward to hearing more about amps. I've been a ham for 35 years and can apply all the equations to the relevant circumstances. What's never made sense to me is that ampacity matters in wire sizing but wattage doesn't. Is amazing that we can just up the voltage to increase the power capacity of a circuit.
I think using the phone's compass itself would just works
I took a semester of welding a while ago, and it really stuck with me how after every class, I could see where my leads had been on the floor by the banded track where its magnetic field had organized the iron dust.
Anyone watching this on a smartphone can pull off similar tomfuckery with your handheld supercomputer. Download phyphox and have fun killing an afternoon with all the sensors you never knew you had!
does this represent the magnetic field more accurately than the iron filings?
But didn't curiosity kill the cat and didn't satisfaction bring it back
I used this to make a DnD prop for the group I DM for. The Diviner found a compass that seems to answer whatever questions are asked to it. There are 3 rings below the needle broken into 4, 8, and 12 sections. For example, the fist ring has "Yes", "No", "Neither", and "Both".
By controlling the amps to 3 overlapping coils offset by 120 degrees and sending a signal over a Bluetooth connection, I can make the needle point to whichever answer I want to give.
