How in the hell can he sing while choking down all of this emotion? I'm sitting here crying silently and failing miserably.
Allow emotion my ass. James freaking broadcasted emotion.
23:16 "desire for peace" … yes. My son, being 18 will soon leave my house. My father, being 88 will soon leave the world. This is such an agonizing song for me. Sometimes I think I'm ready for them to go, but listening to this song I can taste how much it is going to hurt.
You stop the song too often listen to it through then go back and break it down you take the emotion away

Starting on “Oh” I think is brilliant:
1) It’s wordless grief.
2) It puts him on another beat.
The 3/4 time is a brilliant choice; he’s dancing with his father.
