We get people diagnosed at least once a year because it’s carried by squirrels. It’s usually handled quickly. I believe the last unchecked outbreak was in the 80s. As it was the pneumonic version in a poor latino community. Someone was removing rats and the doctor who first “treated” someone ignored the obvious signs and sent them home untreated until the entire neighborhood was sick. Madagascar still has rampant cases I believe mostly due to underfunding. We have treatment for the plague now via antibiotics.
Well that is about 20 years too late. The plague came to CA before in the early 1900s just before the earthquake. In fact the earthquake made itmworse because rats thrive in disastrous environments. Plagues happen once every century so it was only a matter of time.
Wonder how long before they stop tracking it. They stopped testing for foodborne diseases. Also, there are 3 kinds of plague. Bubonic isn't the worst one at all.
The Plague ™ is much less of an issue nowadays because 1: we know how to catch it 2: we know how to treat it 3: we isolate the people who have it As long as we KEEP DOING THAT (and don't defund important staples of medicine, DONALD) things will be fine.
We were at Yosemite watching parents let their kids feed squirrels and chase them. Then we saw the plague warnings on the bathroom doors. 😮

"the plague isn't making some sort of return"
Let us pray a certain orange baboon and his broken voice box at the NHS contract it

You are sick. And not from the plague but from TDS and that is harder to cure 🤢
I think the main question is "why are they suddenly talking about it ? " I think there is some underlying intent
