In 1880s through the 1910s and 1920s some things they did for beauty was:
1. ingesting tapeworms for weight loss (they could grow to like 20 feet long while living inside you)
2. Using arsenic to lighten the skin and “improve complexion” (arsenic is highly toxic and causes cancers, organ failure, and potential death.)
3. Applying belladonna (a potent poison containing toxic alkaloids) drops in the eyes to make pupils look larger and “more attractive”
4. Wearing corsets so tightly they deformed ribs and organs to achieve an hourglass figure (can lead to organ failure and lung trouble)
5. Using lead-based makeup and skin products (lead is a potent, cumulative neurotoxin that causes severe, long-term health problems, like permanent brain damage, kidney failure, and death)
This is why ladies like 70s+ have terrible eyeshadow. They use their fingers….awweee. idk i dont want product on my hands and i always end up with a little on hands
