🎙️ Led Zeppelin – Led Zeppelin IV | Full Album Reaction & Favorites Discussion

In this episode, we dive into *Led Zeppelin IV*—the untitled 1971 masterpiece that blends mythic storytelling, blues grit, and hard rock power. Vito and Aigerim explore the album’s iconic moments, from the thunderous “Black Dog” to the ethereal journey of “Stairway to Heaven.”

With no official title and no band name on the cover, this record speaks entirely through its music—an ambitious, genre-defying statement that helped define rock’s golden era. Whether you’re here for the riffs, the mysticism, or the sheer sonic force, *Led Zeppelin IV* is a timeless experience.

  1. To be honest, Stairway to haven in not even in my top ten among Led Zeppelin's songs. To each their own. 🤷‍♀️ Since I've been loving you is up there in my top three for sure. The 1973 live version… ❤❤❤❤.
Of course Stairway is objectively a great song (as all LZ's songs) but you know what I mean… personal taste.

  2. Not flutes – recorders. Real ones for the studio version. and recorders sampled on a Mellotron for the live versions of Stairway.

Stairway to Heaven is another one with strong LoTR influence. Particularly these verses:

There's a feeling I get when I look to the West

And my spirit is crying for leaving

In my thoughts I have seen rings of smoke through the trees

And the voices of those who stand looking

  3. I was a teen when this came out. At first my least favorite song was "When the Levee Brakes". I'm 68 and for decades I have come to understand that this song stands alone from Led Zeppelin's work as a major contribution to blues rock. This will be a classic song in the future given similar reverence as the classic composers from centuries ago, and I don't compare them on an equal basis. They were all reflections of their time. And Yes! What a historic ending!
