I think words should be pronounced as accurately as possible (and easy) as they can be, but accents are generally where I draw the line. If a sound is common in English that I think it should be used, like not pronouncing the Ls in tortilla or using a qu sound for croissant, but accents are hard to switch to on the fly. Honestly I think changing the pronunciation of historical names is a good idea, but it doesn’t matter too much
I’ve never really thought about it but as someone who is surrounded by lochs including the biggest in the UK, I’ve always made a certain noise in my throat for the “ch” sound in loch instead of a hard k sound but I didn’t know there was a name for said noise, Very interesting 😃👍
