it the beginning of this band its basicly just Damon Albarn. then along came Dan the Automater and he braught Del the Funky Homosapien into the mix. the band history is a wave bruh's take a ride.
The Gorillaz are a virtual band comprising of Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett. Damon is the musician/songwriter/composer/singer and Jamie is the illustrator/animator. There are other people who tour with them but even on tour they all hide behind a giant screen that shows the virtual band while they play. The whole concept of the group is to be a giant middle finger to the music industry and as such just about every track of theirs features a different artist while never saying "feat. so and so" in the song title.
The band has it's own : guitarist 🎸 – bass player – drummer – keyboardist
This one plays on my alt rock station regularly.
They have worked with MF Doom, Mos Def, De La Soul, Del Tha Funky Homosapien, Snoop Dog and many more.

I saw them at the Apollo during this tour (album Demon Days) it was EPIC.
They performed behind a scrim so they were filtered, and all the guest stars performed )in front of the scrim (Mos Def, Dennis Hopper, etc). This was probably for that tour only, I’ve seen vids of later concerts.
I DIG that Alburn never has album photos and music videos of him, cartoons only: he wants it to be about the music not a “cult of personality”.
