I remember as a little kid, put change in the machine for a drink, it didn't come out. My mom said push the button a few times and 4 sodas flew out 😂
Taking the time and energy to make the phone call isnt even worth the $2 lost imo.
I have never gotten a refund from a bag of chips that got stuck it just eats my money and I have to deal with it. Literally never not one time have I ever got my money back ever.

Not a single one of us has ever gotten a refund, which is why I never use them. I was lucky enough that the last one I decided to use was a vending machine inside a hotel, so the hotel clerk was quick to refund my money
In your situation it's not the business owner trying to steak money but they're definitely plenty of dodgy vending machine owners out there. An entire culture in Japan dedicated to it. Look into it. There's a reason for the stereotype. Nice to see an honest vendor out there
