Where’s Aotearoa? I know where New Zealand is, since I live here, sounds like the narrator got his history from the books I read in primary school in the 60’s .
Blue doing mental backflips and spins just to not have to say the word "dutch"
I'm currently living in New Zealand with my family, and my trip has gotten better because of this video. It was cool to learn about the country's history and the Maori tribe. Their navigation system, their culture, and their way of life are awesome.
Fun fact: "Aotearoa" is the name for the North Island. When the Maori settled here a few hundred years ago they had no idea the South Island existed, and didn't know for over 100 years after arriving. They only learned of its existence after European settlers came and informed them, we then officially named the country New Zealand, and the country has never been called "Aotearoa New Zealand" because it's stupid and unnecessary.
WAIT NOOOOO WAY!!
Amazing Pronounciation of Maori words compared to literally every oher foreigner I've seen try btw
Wait, does this mean the guy i saw in Auckland who i thought looked like Blue was actually Blue?!? Damn
4:54 I dont think thats right. Historically Maori and european settlers burned down grasslands to encourage new growth, which might have led to a forest fire or two.
Granted, this is annecdotal because I vaguely remember being told this. For all I know I was misled or am misremembering
Is there going to be a part two covering the other half on nz history that u missed. Like the racism, wars and treaties.
Bro, this video just helped me pass my astronomy test of all things. You're doing sure good work, keep up the amazing videos.
History summarised and you use a made up name for New Zealand. Fail.
It's just New Zealand thank you.The other name is not a recognised name.
