Today, Christianity is the world’s largest religion, but it was once the faith of just a few devoted followers. The story of its growth is one of the most astonishing in history.
Our timeline and animated globe charts the spread of Christianity across the world, from the crucifixion of Christ to the present day, including all the major conversions, missions, conquests and schisms.
Join us as we explore how a small, Judaic sect became the world’s most popular religion over the course of 2,000 years.

You completely forgot about Gnosticism; Gnostic Christians.
Also, Communism being a "major threat to Christianity" & the fact that Communism was created by & is a Jewish ideology, is no coincidence.

I am a Korean Christian. I sincerely appreciate the early missionaries in Korea for their incredible devotion not only to evangelism but also to their sacrificial love over generations.
As the early missionaries' slogan stated, "Forget you are Americans," it ultimately served as a significant catalyst for interest in Christ and the Gospel in Korea. For instance, during epidemics in the late 1800s, Koreans were moved by the compassion of American medical missionaries who worked tirelessly. One witness observed: "Would we do as much for one of our own kin as they do for strangers? he works all night and all day with the sick without resting." "Why does he do it?" asked one. The answer was, "Because he loves us." This sacrificial love illustrated the gospel's transformative power. It is essential to acknowledge the contributions of Mary Scranton and Rosetta Hall, who championed women's dignity. S. F. Moore's advocacy for the human rights of baek-jeong (an extremely marginalized caste) is also noteworthy. Samuel Moffett's foundational work in Pyongyang, despite facing significant opposition and physical harassment while preaching on the streets, exemplifies the profound sacrifices and unwavering dedication of numerous missionaries.
Thanks to the early missionaries' sacrificial devotion, despite its relatively recent origin in 1884, Korean Protestantism expanded rapidly. From 600,000 members in 1955 to over 10 million by 1990, Roy Shearer likened this expansion to a "spreading wildfire." According to the 2015 census and reaffirmed in 2024, Protestants constituted nearly 20% of the population—surpassing Buddhism to become the largest religious group in Korea.
