  1. I stand by this. The Germans shouldn't have invaded Belgium. They should have focused on bleeding the French dry on the border but primarily focusing on Russia in the east. By invading Belgium they opened the door to British intervention and expanded the frontline greatly as they pushed into France which means more men and vital logistics were needed.

  2. Germany could have won the war had it not invaded Belgium but adhered to version B of the Schlieffen Plan. It called for the Germans to remain on the defensive in the West but transfer the bulk of their armies east. Given that one German army sufficed to beat two Russian armies at Tannenburg and the Masurian lakes respectively four German armies would have completely devastated the Russians. Meanwhile, it would have been extremely costly for the French to break through in the west because of the terrain. Moreover, by not invading Belgium the British would not have had a reason to declare war on Germany.

  3. Going defensive in wwi on the west and attacking the east is one way, but it likely doesnt end very well.

The main argument is that the UK doesnt get involved if there is no attack on beligum, which i honestly really doubt. Belgium was the excuse for the UK. Not the reason. They would have found some other reason.
