They might make fun of it but at least they attempted the civilized way to win a war compared to other western nations who have raped, pillage, and used other nations as booty landings.
Belgium was just an excuse for the British to enter the war. If the Germans didn't, they would have joined the war anyway- maybe just a little later.
They could have invaded Belgium and took the railway systems and border fortresses after the invasion and not give time for the Belgians to destroy them
They could have just said if they could transport their army through their border peacefully and inreturn Germany will protect Belgium and share the result if Germany won ww1. Not to mention Germany will help Belgium on Congo and a 30% share for the production of rubber in Belgium congo rubber farm
