In 2023, I was the most out of shape I’d ever been. I didn’t set out to lose 65 pounds, it just kind of happened over time as a byproduct of trying to feel better.
These are the six simple systems that helped me get healthier without becoming “that guy.” No diets, 75 Hard, fitness cults or whatever, just some realistic habits. I started after discovering some mild health issues that were related to me being overweight, went to a nutritionist and completely changed my lifestyle from mostly sedentary to going for long walks at least twice a week, and going to the gym 3 times a week.
If you don’t know where to walk pick some easy stuff that you often do with your car, like my parents live 3 and a half miles away from me so instead of getting my fat ass in the car i just started walking there once or twice a week, it takes 45 minutes each direction at regular walking speed but if i don’t have anything else to do that day that requires my car i’ll just walk there and take it easy.
Another easy thing is instead of ordering food at home i just walk there and take it back home, i live close to some great pizza places and if i’m staying at home during my cheat day i’ll walk there to grab my pizza instead of taking the delivery home.
I admit it took me some time to get used to the new lifestyle, since at first i was cheating quite a lot and my weight loss weren’t that great, but now i’m 70lbs down from my original weight, and most of it came from going to the gym, i just regret starting it so late, otherwise i would’ve lost much more weight by now.
