I am from consulting field as well and there is no fixed range.
I know companies that give 5-6 lakhs per annum for beginners as well as companies that offer about 20-25 lakhs per annum. It all depends on the company and obviously the college you are from.
For instance a guy from IIM joining BCG or McKinsey can easily ask for a package in the upward of 30 lakhs per annum
At the same time if you are from some tier III institute joining some tier III company, you may get about 5 lakhs per annum
