How To Beat ANYONE in Pokemon VGC (Once You Know Their Color!)
most players prep for teams.
the best players prep for people.
because here’s the truth: understanding your opponent’s team is important. but understanding how your opponent THINKS? that’s the real competitive edge.
in this video i’m breaking down exactly how to beat all 4 player types in competitive pokemon vgc once you know their color.
🔴 Red (The General) – Aggressive & Structured
🟡 Yellow (The Gambler) – Aggressive & Flexible
🔵 Blue (The Architect) – Passive & Structured
🟢 Green (The Flow Player) – Passive & Flexible
this isn’t theory. this is battle psychology that i’ve used at regionals, in worlds qualification runs, and in coaching dozens of players to their breakthrough results.
what you’ll learn in this video:
how to identify your opponent’s color by turn 3
the exact weaknesses each color type has in battle
specific strategies to beat Red, Yellow, Blue, and Green players
how to change your pace and tempo to throw off their gameplan
why understanding people matters more than just matchups
how the best players “borrow” from all four colors to win

2:35 – Identifying your color
4:55 – Red (The Commander)
7:01 – Yellow (The Wildcard)
9:11 – Blue (The Architect)
11:02 – Green (The Flow Player)
13:24 – How the other colors view you
16:30 – How to beat each color
this framework has changed how i prep for tournaments, how i make reads during battles, and how i coach players to break through their plateaus.
if you’ve ever felt like you’re losing to the PERSON behind the team, not just the matchup… this video will give you the tools to turn that around.

real talk: you can have the perfect team, know every matchup, practice for hours… and still lose if you don’t understand the person sitting across from you.
the best players in the world don’t just prep teams. they prep for mindsets.
when you walk into battle, don’t ask “what’s the right move?” ask “what color am I playing?”
then reverse engineer the win.
next time you’re in team preview, try to guess your opponent’s color by turn 3. then use the strategies from this video to exploit their weaknesses.
let’s make your opponents mcfree by understanding them better than they understand themselves.
drop your color in the comments and tell me: which player type gives you the most trouble?

My best team so far was an agressive Swordfish team but honestly I played like 80% sword, 20% fish. I like proactive and active gameplay where I feel like I'm trying to win instead of "trying not to lose" but not full HO because that is too rigid for me. I really like positioning my main pieces well and turning the pressure up but I also like to have the threat of "If you don't respect me spamming Water Spout turn 1, you'll throw the game." Soooooooo what is that?
Great video! Which top players have you beaten, and how many?
