How To Build A Tech Startup With No Technical Skills

Based on the thousands of companies YC has funded over the years, the biggest common element between all successful startups is having technical talent on the founding team. But what do you do if you don’t know how to code? You may think you can get by using no-code tools, part-time consultants, or dev shops to bring your startup idea to life. But that thinking is wrong.

In this episode of Dalton & Michael, we’ll discuss exactly why that is and why recruiting a technical co-founder is the single biggest way to create value as someone trying to start the next big thing.

  2. I am 18 year's old with 0 tech knowledge but I have an great idea but I'm getting overwhelmed and don't have any idea how to start. I will be grateful if anyone would help me. I need a website or app to start my startup for reference my app would contain social interaction + job findings like Instagram and Udemy in one platform.

  3. For "Asking the best " part …. I disagree, most of them have a preconceived notion of what is deemed good or not.,What will work and what will not, without … really asking the question of "which customers might need this?"

  4. Incubators like YC make non-tech founders feel like an outcast. The real world is filled with Comp Science PhD level programmers who can build anything but don't have good understanding of business, marketing, sales, and customer needs. You need visionaries as much as the executors. Wozniak was a genius for building the first Apple computer but it was Steve Jobs that made Apple what it is today. He never wrote a single line of code. Here are some more examples:

    1. Jack Ma (Alibaba Group)
    2. Brian Chesky & Joe Gebbia(Airbnb)
    3. Ben Silbermann & Evan Sharp (Pinterest)
    4. Peter Thiel (PayPal)
    5. Alex Karp (Palantir)
    6. Ryan Smith (Qualtrics):
    7. Whitney Wolfe Herd (Bumble)
    8. Melanie Perkins (Canva)
    9. Julia Hartz (Eventbrite)
    10. Travis Kalanick (Uber)

I can go on but you get the idea. YC is great and has done more for the Startup ecosystem than all the other entities combined. Keep the learning that makes sense to you but don't let their preaching be God's words. You can do achieve anything you set your mind to and that includes starting a successful business without knowing how to code.

  5. I am not a dev but I began building my demo and flew right past that and my MVP is nearly complete. The potential for my idea is HUGE and I am not about to give away ownership to someone because they are techie, most tech guys are asses and have huge egos to get past and even worse personalities. I guess I am that one that they are laughing about. I may fail but chances are I wont and will be so happy to find this video and share my success. No information was given here except go look for someone and hand away your idea. Sorry not this guy, genius ideas and massive potential is not easy to come by. If there was an honest guy willing to work as hard as me and has ideas to bring to the table. I am game but I am not begging for someone to be my sounding board. I got AI for that .
