How To Clean A Keurig Coffee Maker

Thank you
Some of you are talking about cleaning it while others sound like youre descaling it. I can tell you how to descale, I literally just did it.. I poured a small bottle of apple cider vinegar along with equal parts of water….Lift the lid removing any unused cups. This is the key here…When you close the lid make sure you turn the machine off…..then press 8 and 12 simultaneously if thats an option til the descale light turns on. Hit The K button and let it run…do it over and over til it says please add water. At that point take the reservoir and clean it thoroughly…fill the entire reservoir with water…HIt K again…let it run…once it stops do it again, and again….til it says add water again..At this point the descale light will turn off…and youre ready to go….It worked for me and Im an idiot when it comes to these things….haha
I hope you washed that toothbrush bf you used it
Nice video! How do I get my wife to do this? 😊
My advice is
#1. Don't fill your reservoir with straight tap water. Buy a Brita and only pour filtered water into it. It should help cut down on limescale somewhat since you are filtering it once through the Brita, and once through the filter in the Keurig. If your fridge has a water filter for the door dispenser, you might actually be filtering it 3x before it enters your coffee mug if you fill the Brita from the fridge door. Just a thought. We ONLY use Brita water in our Keurig, and keep it in the fridge between fillings so the water doesn't sit at room temp.
#2. I don't think you need to run 16oz of vinegar through it. What I do is fill two full coffee cups worth into the reservoir, and then run two of the larger setting brews through it, enough to ensure the INTERIOR tank is filled with ONLY vinegar. And then just let it sit for AT LEAST 45 minutes so the vinegar soaks inside the tank. If you do what she says in this video, the inside of the interior heating tank hardly gets cleaned. It's best to let the vinegar soak in the tank for a while before you begin rinsing.
Pretty sure I just ruined mine by using vinegar 😭
IT LITERALLY TAKES 15 SECONDS MORE TO DUMP OUT OLD COFFEE GROUNDS, PUT IN A FILTER, AND FILL WITH COFFEE, THAN IT DOES TO POP IN A KURIG.
HOW MANY POUNDS OF PLASTIC THAT TAKES HUNDREDS OF YEARS TO DISINTEGRATE, AND THAT POLLUTES IN THE PROCESS, NOT TO MENTION WATER WASTED IN EVEN MAKING THE PLASTIC FOR THE KURIG PODS, ARE YOU USING/WASTING VS SPENDING 15 SECONDS MORE EACH MORNING!?!? IT'S 15 SECONDS!!!! 20 MAX!!! AND COFFEE GROUNDS ARE GREAT COMPOST, YOU LAZY MOTHER F-ERS.
Yes, this is all caps, but for realz… Times how many pounds of plastic you use by using 'convenient' Kurig cups every day each year, combined by how many millions of other people use them every day, and you have yourself several thousands of football stadiums, packed full of plastic that will not decompose, and also leaches chemicals back into our water supplies and food sources, …for your 'convenience'. …of saving 15 f'ind seconds each morning.
OMG DONT use all purpose chemical cleaners on things that you use for eating and drinking. This is why you can't trust everything you see on the internet
I see quite a few comments about not using undiluted vinegar. I just checked the de-scaling instructions in my Keurig owner's manual, and it says to "pour approximately 48 ounces of undiluted white vinegar into the water reservoir" and repeat the brew process until the add water button is lit.
I'm glad I researched and looked at the Ximena cause baaaabeeee I was about to just run with the vinegar! ….😢
