Appears to be a huge energy waste as you removed a large section of insulation and door has no seal of any type. In the Summer you're allowing AC into a hot attic, a no-no, causing condensation and related issues.
Telling people to arbitrarily cut a ceiling joist is crazy irresponsible.
Looks like the extension arms magically attached themselves. What a bummer…. was hoping for guidance on how to determine where to place the arm hinges

How are you supposed to open the ladder (to screw in the lagging bolts) when it’s sitting on the temporary supports. It conveniently cuts right past that part..,
