I can’t believe I’m saying this but these were the best biscuits I’ve ever made. I’m 72 and have been baking since I was a teenager. These were spectacular. Crispy on the outside, soft layered inside. Heaven. I changed one thing. I used 1/2cup butter and 1/2 cup shortening. Butter is so expensive now. Anyway, I will use your recipe from now on! Thank you!
Thank you.Good sir.For another absolutely amazing recipe
My mother was a fabulous southern cook. She used to break off pieces of the biscuit dough, roll them in her hands, then arrange them into a cast iron skillet. No round cutters, no waste, no re-rolling.

Can you make biscuits with bread flour??
Hi John, I love your videos. I'm 68 and have been baking since I was about 7 years old. My specialty is cinnamon rolls that I make without kneading, refrigerate overnight and roll out the next day. I have had some issues and figured out that it was the type of yeast I used (didn't rise enough). QUESTION: could you please make a video that's all about yeast? Please go into a lot of details about which type is good for different recipes and techniques. QUESTION: I still have some things to learn. I've never made bread. What's the best bread recipe to get started with? Could you please explain when it's best to use a mixer and when it's better to do it by hand? I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks!
Place the biscuits literally touching each other on the pan. They will not flop over if they are side by side. They will rise side by side.
Tried making this without any dairy, they turn out a bit like a rock on the outside. Soft and fluffy inside tho yes. Not quite sure how to make it softer on the outside. I’m using soy milk instead of regular milk, and vegan butter btw.

2 tsp/ 22g salt
2 tbsp/ 30g granulated sugar
