It originated in Africa. Happy black history month
Another popular rice-based dish in Mexico is called Arroz con Leche, which translates to rice pudding. And it’s made the same way as horchata, but instead of blending it, you boil it on the stove for 20-25 minutes.
Happy for you that you liked/made it, but next time don’t use basmati rice, use plain white rice, it will taste a lot better
