Never heard of donuts with ridges unless they come out of a grocery store box. At mom and pop owned donut places, they are hand made and delicious 😋

Sour cream? Where can I find that? I don't agree with the live gurts in the yogurt but they don't seem to have "sour cream" at my local nothing alive ingredient store. Can I combine heavy cream with sour patch kids? Old fashioned dognuts are my favorite!😉🤣

Canola oil? That’s a non-starter. If using lard or other animal based oil would you use the same temp?

Yes! You are so right about East Coast donuts versus West Coast donuts. I was raised in Washington State, but lived for many years in Maryland. I absolutely could not find old fashioned donuts like I was used to. They have to have that center ring with the shaggy edges you can break off into bite size pieces. I think the secret is that the shaggy donuts are extruded, not cut.
