I make this recipe every year! My grandsons love it! Has anyone tried this with roasted sweet potatoes? I want to make one for a church friend, but not sure if this will be too sweet using this same recipe. I'd love to hear from anyone, (including Chef John) who has tried this recipe with sweet potatoes instead of pumpkin. Happy Thanksgiving all!

Should the pie crust be pre-baked before filling?
This recipe was posted 12 years ago but I just discovered it in 2024. Substituted sugar free sweetened condensed milk for regular sweetened condensed milk (diabetes) and it is awesome!!!

I used this recipe to create a pumpkin pie for the first time and it was delicious. The second time I made a pumpkin pie I used the traditional method of 2 eggs, sugar, and evaporated milk, and I have to say that the flavor and texture doesn't even come close to the recipe in this video. I'll definitely be using this recipe from now on.
