HOW TO MAKE THE BEST TASTIEST PAKISTANI DAAL RECIPE 😍🇵🇰😍🇵🇰!!

People assume daal is difficult to make but it’s actually super easy, literally just a dump and stir recipe. This is the kind of Tarka Daal you will find at most restaurants or takeaways in Lahore, Pakistan.

INGREDIENTS:
– 1 cup daal (I used whole moong but you can use others)
– 2 ½ – 3 cups water
– 1 onions (diced)
– 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
– ½ tsp chilli powder (use Kashmiri chilli powder if you want it less spicy)
– ½ tsp chilli flakes
– ½ tsp pepper
– 1 tsp coriander powder
– 1 tsp cumin powder
– 1 tsp salt

– ½ tsp garam masala
– ½ tsp turmeric (¼ before ¼ after)

– 4 garlic cloves (sliced)
– 2 tbsp ghee

– ½ cup fresh coriander (for garnish)

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Wash your daal in lukewarm water a couple times, and soak in water for at least 3-4 hours.
2. In a pot add soaked daal, water, all the spices except garam masala and half the turmeric. Cover and boil on medium till soft, approximately 35 mins.
3. Add the garam masala, remaining turmeric and some fresh coriander. Cook out for 5 mins.
4. TEMPER: In a separate pan over medium high heat, heat the ghee and add fresh garlic, till golden.
5. Add the temper to the daal.
6. Enjoy with rice!
