i feel like a poser but i really want to dress like this, is that bad?
When I was in high school I found myself not being able to dress like the other girls due to money and a very conservative home. So I started paying more attention to alt styles. I kept asking “is this Punk? Is that Rocker??” And saying rocker always feels cringe but I didn’t know what I was searching for, just that I wanted to be more edgy. My mom was not kind about it. Although she followed the rules much like social media does today with how this is your essence and that is what fallers your body type more ect she went off on me about how “mature” people don’t have a “style” and we aren’t to be worried about that and just grow up and stop trying to be something that I’m not. I was trying to find myself and to be told that while I’m literally trying to grow was awful. Thankfully God made me stubborn. I came out of it okay. I don’t have one style but even if I’ve tried to be “normal” and “fluffy” I always get strangers coming up to me to tell me how rocker I am. It’s my essence. This was the video I needed growing up. To anyone dealing with this I would say maybe try to communicate that inside you feel different and want to be creative in the ways that you feel coming out and that would make you happy. It might work. Or you might have parents like mine and the. Listen you’ll be an adult soon. It’s okay 🖤
