Why is my a chord like its not ringing properly please suggest anything that can help with this

I normally play it with all 3 my fingers (1st,, second and 3rd finger) down in a straight line for the A-Chord. In other words, index finger at the top , middle finger in the middle, and ring finget at the bottom (as opposed to middle finger at top and index finger in the middle as showed in this video) …. Any reason why he does this instead of just having all the fingers in a straight line?
If that was unclear, I meant that I play index finger on the D-String , middle finger on the G-String , and the ringfinger on the B-string

when playing chords do you have to shrum first and then pick individually how do u know when not to or when to shrum
Instead of twisting # 1 ,2, 3 fingers like Pretzels to make A chord. Is it ok to use #2 finger across strings 2,3 and 4 instead?
