The diffuser cap provides 100% combustion by deflecting gas fumes that have not ignited. Removing the cap risks csrbin monoxide poisoning. Get a gas sniffer and test the area around your stove when you does this.

Wow, this worked on my old range on all settings except high. It blew out on high. I'm definitely going to cook something up this weekend.
Update: it goes all the way to high as long as the wok is on top.
