Scratches on glass cooker tops are not uncommon. They make your cooker top look old and ugly.
I was cooking the other day. Food dribbled under the pan, heated up and burned into carbon (I was unaware this had happened).
I don’t like washing up, so I decided not to use a spoon. Instead I used a technique Chef’s call ‘Tossing’.
I tossed and shook my pan vigorously on the glass cooker top until I got weary and couldn’t toss anymore.
Once I had finished, I removed my pan and to my surprise there was a stupid amount of white scratches on the ceramic glass cooker top.
I rent, so I wasn’t worried about the cooker. I was worried about how I was going to cover this up so I get my full deposit back!

apparently one can put some sort of intermediate barrier like silicone, paper towel or oven savers to take the brunt of any spillage during cooking. I would imagine paper might be a fire hazard.

WOW it's hard to believe that nobody has commented on this already but after you make a paste of baking soda and water and spread it on the scratched areas of the cooktop you SCRUB IT and then wipe it off. Baking soda is great with many uses- antacid, deodorizer, toothpaste, air freshener, fire extinguisher, laundry booster hell it can even take the farts out of dried beans but it's not a magical substance that can alter glass on a molecular level causing it to meld into the scratches on contact.
There are two places where you can put the camera. One is in front of you to show what you do. The other is behind you to show your arm swinging.
And the multiple steps are unnecessary if using right materials to remove alumininum markings.
I had real scratches on the ceramic and I had TURTLE WAX Scratch Repair & Renew around, which I used on my car before and could remove light damages (which were not reaching the base coating). I has a success with removing the scratches. I made the repar like 3-4 months ago and everything is fine.
