I admit, first time I watched this I did laugh a lot. But even more now be a yeah, they don’t make them like this anymore.

It wasn't that we were "less sensitive". It was that there was not the same level of "culture war" stuff that conservatives rose to power on. Grown men couldn't stand the Barbie movie in 2024 because they thought it was a threat to their male existence. Nobody was looking at movies like that in 2007/8.
There was a space in society for satirical films like this that were INTENTIONALLY offensive as a way of exposing the offenders, not the people offended.
Don't rewrite history. It wasn't about people being less offended. It was that they knew the offensiveness was a joke and not a sincere attack.
